Description:
Claytor Lake State Park presents a Father's Day Fishing Event on Sunday, June 20, 2021.

Join the rangers at Claytor Lake State Park for an afternoon of fishing. This event is for beginners as well as accomplished fishermen. There will be a short discussion about fishing techniques as well as the fish commonly found in our lake. A practice casting area is provided as well as equipment and bait. Feel free to bring your own equipment if you wish. Let's plan on a great afternoon in the park!

There will also be opportunities to learn about fly-fishing, with a discussion and demonstration from Mac McCord. Kids of all ages can then try their hand at hitting a target with a makeshift fly rod.

A valid Virginia fishing license is required for those 16 years old or older and may be purchased in the Park Office, Gift Shop, or at https://dwr.virginia.gov/licenses/.

The event is free, however, the regular $7.00 per vehicle state parking fee applies.

For more information, visit: http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/claytor-lake or https://www.facebook.com/vaspclaytorlake or call 540-643-2500.
