Blacksburg Parks and Recreation Department and the Town of Blacksburg present the 2026 Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at the Blacksburg Municipal Park starting at 6:00 PM. Schedule: • 6:00-7:00 PM: Blacksburg Community Band performs • 7:30-9:30 PM: Root Down in Concerts • 9:30 PM: Fireworks Show begins Enjoy live music with a handful of food vendors before everyone's favorite annual Fireworks Show starting at 9:30 PM. The Blacksburg Community Band, Inc. is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit community organization formed in 1989 under the auspices of the Department of Parks and Recreation in the Town of Blacksburg, Virginia. The band has musicians from all corners of the New River Valley and surrounding areas with diverse experiences and backgrounds. They play a wide variety of concert band music including marches, show tunes, light symphonic music, popular tunes, old favorites, and novelty music. The band performs an average of 20 concerts each year throughout the New River Valley. The band was incorporated in Virginia as a non-profit corporation in 2007. Whether you're a longtime jazz lover or just looking for the perfect midweek vibe, Root Down Trio sets the tone with smooth melodies, deep rhythms, and plenty of improvisational flair.
