Runabout Sports presents the 10th Annual Hokie Half Marathon and 5K on Sunday, October 2, 2022. UPDATE: Due to Hurricane Ian, the half marathon start time has been pushed back 20 minutes and the course has changed to avoid potential flooding spots. Race Schedule: • 7:50 AM: Half Marathon starts • 8:00 AM: 5K starts Come to beautiful Blacksburg, Virginia this fall and run with the Hokies! The races feature a great course, delicious food, terrific swag, awards, post race festivities and the best finisher medal! With the first four miles on roads, the next six travel along the Huckleberry Bike Trail before heading back onto roads and bike trails for the final miles. Combined with a ton of live music (9 music locations) and plenty of cheering along the way, the Hokie Half is one you won’t want to miss! The Half Marathon includes Hokie Bird finisher medal, registration shirt, finisher shirt and other race swag. The No Frills Half Marathon option includes Hokie Bird finisher medal, food and all race course amenities, but none of the shirts or swag. 5k entrants have the option to receive a 3-inch bronze Hokie Bird finisher medal or no finisher medal. A virtual option is also available for both the Hokie Half Marathon. The virtual option includes shipping, Finisher Medal, participant long sleeve shirt, finisher gift, and finisher magnet for the Hokie Half and shipping, short sleeve shirt and finisher medal for the 5K. Virtual racers will have from September 25th to October 10th to complete the half marathon and 5K. A photo of your Garmin, Strava, Map My Run, etc. will be needed to confirm your finish. To register for the race, visit: https://hokiehalf.itsyourrace.com/event.aspx?id=5225. Online registration closes at midnight on Thursday, September 29th. Paper forms will be accepted at Runabout Sports until 8:00 PM on Saturday, October 1st. There is no race day registration. The Hokie Half Marathon has a four hour time limit for participants (~18:20 pace per mile). Those who did not finish within the time limit can still participate in the post race food and festivities, however will not receive a finisher medal and course support may not be available after 11:30 AM. Beginning at 5:45 AM on race day, buses will shuttle athletes and spectators from Virginia Tech’s Chicken Hill parking lot every 10 minutes to the start/finish area and will continue until noon. If you are dropping off a runner, you can drop them off at the Virginia Tech Airport. The Hokie Half Marathon is limited to 3,000 participants and the 5K is limited to 1,000 runners/walkers.
