Laura Prangley (Entertainer)
Biography:
Laura Prangley currently resides in Los Angeles, CA and is a comedian and producer and Virginia Tech alum. She has been a contributing writer for Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live, The Collared Sheep and filmed a role in the first season of the Comedy Central’s “Inside Amy Schumer”.
Her parents took her to see stand up comedy as a surprise 16th birthday present at the DC Improv. She signed up for improv classes at the club shortly thereafter and started performing at 17. While a film student at Virginia Tech, Laura became a regular at Attitudes Comedy Club in Blacksburg, Virginia. Summers in college were spent training at The Upright Citizens Brigade.
She has performed in sketches featured on ComedySmack, Comedy Central, and Funny or Die. Laura has opened for headliners such as Judah Friedlander, Joe Recca, Amy Schumer, Bob Marley, Barry Rothbart and Rory Scovel. Laura guest hosted an episode of the Yahoo series "Mansome", performed stand up on The Truth About Money, appeared in the Cape Fear Comedy Festival in Wilmington, North Carolina and hosted three episodes of the new Self series “Girl vs. Sweat”.
She has set foot on a number of stages including: Carolines on Broadway, New York Comedy Club, Stand-Up NY, Laugh Lounge, Comic Strip, Gotham & Levity Live. Laura competed in “Amateur Night” at the DC Improv, “Opie and Anthony’s Funniest Listener Contest” and The New York Comedy Contest. She’s host/producer of Uncorked at City Winery, Too Soon, Alumni Comedy Show , A Punchline Grows in Brooklyn & Comic Relief for Hurricane Sandy Relief.Seth Olenick_Laura Prangley.
