Virginia Tech's Itraab Arabic Music Ensemble (Band)

Biography:

Founded in 2014 as a project of Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech, the Itraab Ensemble (whose name means "creating enchantment through music") is a community group that is open to participation for all. Under the direction of Anne Elise Thomas, ethnomusicologist, the ensemble learns musical pieces from various parts of the Arab world, for performance on percussion, voice, strings (violin, viola, cello, bass) and Arabic instruments. Instruments are provided for use. Musical experience is a plus, but not necessary.

Young people (ages 10 and up) are welcome to participate with an adult.
