The Montgomery Museum of Art & History in Christiansburg, VA presents a Historic Talk titled "July 4 vs July 2: Are We Celebrating The Wrong Independence Day?" on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

Join us for a special talk by Dr. Dan Thorp about the historical reason before we celebrate July 4th why July 2nd should be remembered as our true Independence Day. Dr. Thorp makes the case for why the date Congress actually voted for independence deserves a second look.
