Blacksburg Newcomers Club presents their February General Meeting on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Blacksburg, VA.

The featured February speaker is Jon Murrill. Jon is a full time Appalachian muralist and storyteller based in Roanoke, VA. He received a Masters of Fine Art Degree from Radford University with a focus in painting and drawing.
After several years spent teaching art courses, Jon made the transition to painting large scale murals full-time. Although his works stretches from Virginia to Brazil, his true inspiration comes from the people of Appalachia — their stories, their character, their spirit.

This event is free and open to the public.

Our club is open to all residents of the New River Valley. Whether you are new or have lived here for years, you are welcome!

The Blacksburg Newcomers Club is a social club focusing on building friendships and community for all in the New River Valley.

If you would like to join our Club, annual membership is open to everyone in the New River Valley, from brand new residents to long- timers. The cost is $30.00 annually with the year beginning in September.

Parking is easiest in the lower parking lot off of Prices Fork Road.

Doors open 8:55 AM and the meeting is from 9:00-11:30 AM.
