Description:
The 90th Newport Agricultural Fair will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025 and Saturday, August 9, 2025 on the grounds of the Newport Recreation Center in Giles County, VA.
Saturday Schedule:
• 9:00 AM: Fun Horse Show
• 10:00 AM: Youth Games (Ages 1-9)
• 11:00-11:30 AM: Line Dancing
• 1:00 PM: Youth Games (Ages 10+)
• 1:30 PM: History of Newport Presentation (Auditorium)
• 2:00 PM: Forestry Field Day & Competition (Horse Ring)
• 2:00-2:30 PM: Line Dancing
• 3:00 PM: Cake Walk
• 4:00-4:30 PM: Line Dancing
• 5:00 PM: Jousting Tournament
• 6:00 PM: Hog Calling
• 6:30-7:00 PM: Line Dancing
• 7:00 PM: Western Justice in Concert
• ~8:45 PM: Fireworks (at dusk)
The Newport Agricultural Fair will celebrate its 90th birthday this year making it the oldest continuous agricultural fair in the state of Virginia, blending a touch of the past with the present. Bring your family and friends and enjoy food, fun, music, fireworks, vendors, cake walk, kids games, free face painting and other traditional fair activities that you won't want your family to miss!
Western Justice, based in the Roanoke Valley, specialize in old school country, classic rock n roll and Americana music from Merle Haggard to Neil Young.

Youth Games (10:00 AM):
• Toddler (Ages 1-3): Sprint, Dash, Hop, Egg & Spoon Race
• Preschool (Ages 4-6): Sprint, Dash, Hop, Egg & Spoon Race
• Ages 7-9: Wheelbarrow Race, Sack Race, Hula Hoop Contest, Egg & Spoon Race
Games for Ages 10 & Up (1:00 PM):
• Sack Race (10-12, 13+)
• Wheelbarrow Race (10-12, 13+)
• Three Legged Race (10-12, 13+)
• Piggy Back Race (10-12, 13+)
• Egg & Spoon Race (10-12, 13+)
• Egg Toss (All ages)
Enjoy a slide presentation of the history of Newport at 1:30 PM titled "Up In The Holler, Down On The Run" inside the auditorium.
The Old Time Forestry Field Day competitions include two person crosscut saw, log splitting, one person bow saw for both men and women respectively and mixed couple crosscut saw and pole toss.
All exhibits will be located downstairs and in the Rescue Squad Hall.
There will be a shuttle bus running from the First Christian Church to the Newport Ball Park on Saturday from 9:00 AM until midnight and the bus is handicap accessible. There will be limited handicap parking at the Rec Center and additional handicap parking at the Ball Field.
In case of rain, only individual outdoor events may be affected, all other events will proceed as scheduled.
All pets must be caged or leashed.
