The Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley and the Pulaski Chamber of Commerce presents a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Sculpture "Together We Rise: Pulaski" on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Jackson Park in Pulaski, VA.
The Ribbon Cutting celebrates the completion of the ladder sculpture "Together We Rise: Pulaski" created by artists and sculptors Charlie Brouwer and and Barry Keller. Ladders borrowed from community members rise together in a month-long, temporary public art installation that involves, engages, and is all about the community.
"Together We Rise: Pulaski" is a public art project that anyone in the community can contribute to. Local artist, Charlie Brouwer, coordinates the building of a three-dimensional sculpture comprised of ladders borrowed from, and returned to, community members. The ladders in the sculpture are assembled together with strong cable ties to create a massive, sturdy sculpture that is accessible to all who visit.
Join members of the Fine Arts Center, the Pulaski Chamber of Commerce, the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors and Mayor Shannon Collins. Members of the Junior Appalachian Musicians from Greater Pulaski (GRAPe JAM) will also perform.
We plan to start around 6:00 PM which is contingent upon when the last ladder is actually ready to be placed.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
Jackson Park is located at 42 1st Street NW in Pulaski, VA.
