The New River Community College's Concert Series presents their Free April Music Concert with Sassafras Bluegrass Band on Saturday, April 8, 2023 inside 117 Edwards Hall on the New River Community College's Dublin, VA campus.
New River Community College's Concert Series brings you a night of music featuring the Sassafras Bluegrass Band.
Sassafras is based in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Sassafras is a bluegrass band who pays homage to the Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs era, but also enjoys pushing the edge of progressive Newgrass music as well. Their repertoire includes a range of musical styles including ole-time, country, folk, western swing and originals. Members are Chris Bryant, Wes Tuttle, Randy Gambill and Billy Gee.
Sassafras has shared the stage and/or studio with a wide range of prominent bluegrass and Americana artist including: Doc Watson, Jack Lawrence, Charlie Waller, John Cowan, Jim Lauderdale, Tony Rice, Jerry Douglas , Allison Krauss, Tim O'Brien, Mark O'Connor, Laurie Lewis, Arthur Smith, Josh Graves, Kenny Baker, Benny Martin, Mac Wiseman, Tut Taylor, Russell Moore, Ronnie Bowman, Doug Jernigan, Jim Buchanan, Steve Dilling, Kim Gardner, Wayne Henderson, Steve Lewis, Tony Furtado, Leon Hunt, Richard Collins, Kruger Brothers, Roy Huskey Jr., and others.

Admission is free though donations will be accepted to help with travel expenses for the musicians.
All are welcome.
Doors open at 5:00 PM and the music starts at 6:00 PM.
The Concert Series events are held the second Saturday of each month, October through April at New River Community College, a Crooked Road affiliated venue.
