Description:
The Hale Community Garden & Roper Solar Greenhouse presents the 2nd Annual Tree Tapping Workshop at Hale Community Garden on Saturday, February 18, 2023.
Did you know maple syrup is made in Virginia? Do you have maple trees in your yard? Do you need a reason to look forward to February? Come to the Hale Community Garden to learn about syrup production in our region, and everything you need to know to turn sap into nature's candy at home.
We will learn how to identify and tap trees, and the techniques for boiling and finishing sap into syrup. We'll discuss the fascinating history of maple syrup, syrups from other trees, and how syrup is good on more than just pancakes!
Full workshop registration is $30.00 and includes the tapping demonstration, maple-infused treats, a sampling of local syrups and your own tap, bucket and lid.
Workshop only tickets are $15.00 and are also available if you would like to attend and don't need your own tap and bucket.
