Description:
The Handmade Music School presents Dance the Tune: A Flatfoot Workshop with Becky Hill on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at The Floyd Country Store.

Dance the Tune: A Flatfooting Workshop will be a deep dive into Appalachian percussive dance forms such as flatfooting, clogging and buck dance. We will focus on musicality, syncopation, and improvisation; explore what it means to dance the tune, and dig into how to support a singer using footwork akin to a drum set. It is my hope that everyone will walk away with new tools and footwork vocabulary to use on the dance floor.

Becky Hill is an accomplished and sought after percussive dancer, Appalachian square dance caller, and choreographer. Becky has worked with Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble, Rhythm in Shoes, Good Foot Dance Company and studied with an array of percussive dance luminaries. She performs regularly with the T-Mart Rounders, directed her first full-length music and dance work inspired by Appalachian traditions, Shift in 2017 and in Fall 2018 she was selected as a fellow for OneBeat, a U.S. State Department Cultural Diplomacy Program.

The cost is $30.00 per person.
