Description:
The Blacksburg Summer Arts Festival sponsored through Virginia Tech is excited to announce an all-community sing of Mozart’s “Requiem” on Thursday, July 28th at 7:00 PM at Blacksburg Presbyterian Church. The first rehearsal for the Mozart "Requiem" Community All-Sing will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 also at at Blacksburg Presbyterian Church.
Are you in Southwest Virginia and want to sing? Register today at
http://bit.ly/SummerArtsMozart22 and indicate your vocal range (Soprano/Alto/Tenor/Bass) and the chorus or choruses with which you sing. If you are not currently singing with a group, you can still join, just note that you are an independent singer.
This performance with piano will feature conductor Larry Wyatt, pianist Richard Masters, soprano Ariana Wyatt, mezzo-soprano Mary Wright, tenor Brian Thorsett, bass (and Opera Roanoke Artistic Director) Steven White, and trombonist Dayl Burnett.
There will be a total of seven rehearsals, also at Blacksburg Presbyterian Church. Singers are asked to commit to a minimum of five, and the final two rehearsals on July 25th and 27th will be mandatory. In the spirit of the Blacksburg Summer Arts Festival participation will be free, with sheet music provided for no charge. Practice tracks will also be made available online.
Since this is a community program, we plan to highlight all the participating groups in the area that participate. We hope that you will be able to join us in presenting this important masterwork and celebrate the choral tradition in our region!
