Description:
Blue Ridge Orienteering Club presents a Halloween Book Hunt on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 starting at the front of Squires Student Center on College Avenue on the campus of Virginia Tech.

Hunt Schedule:
• 6:45 pm: There will be a pre-race meeting in front of Squires Student Center
• 6:55 pm: Maps will be handed out
• 7:00 pm: The hunt will begin
• 8:15 pm: The hunt ends

A Halloween tradition at Virginia Tech dating back to at least 2005.
Find hidden books on campus on foot or by bike, no motorized devices allowed.

Books will be hidden all over the Virginia Tech campus. Participants will be given a map with their locations along with hints and clues to find the books. When you find a book you rip the last page out and receive points based on the page number you have. Be the first to get to each book and receive maximum points. The team (or individual) with the most points will be declared the winner.

The cost is $5.00 per map for non-students and free for college students.

Costumes are encouraged and may be awarded bonus points at the race director's discretion.

Teams are welcome but they MUST STAY TOGETHER during the entire event. Individual participants are welcome as well.

The event is rain or shine.

Dress prepared for the weather and a bag is recommended to keep the pages you find dry.

Also, note it will be dark so wear visible clothing and/or lights so that drivers will see you while running/riding around. A headlamp and a ziploc bag for the map are highly recommended.
