There will also be giveaways and raffles throughout the event.
Youngsters must be at least 5 years old for the top-rope or auto-belay climbing and 8 years old to work on the boulder wall. Anyone under 14 years old must be directly supervised.
On Global Climbing Day, indoor climbing gyms and outdoor climbing spaces around the world celebrate the fun and virtues of the sport. Climbing is not only about physical skills and strength, but a sport that develops focus and stamina and friendships.
The North Face, the company that creates the clothing and gear needed for climbing, coordinates the event worldwide. The North Face will donate $1.00 to the Khumbu Climbing Center for every climber who participates, up to $100,000. The Khumbu Climbing Center, located in Nepal, is a vocational program for Nepali to learn climbing skills, mountain safety, rescue, and wilderness first aid to work with the Mt. Everest base camp.
