Description:
The Virginia Tech Theatre Department presents the play Three Sisters by Anton Chekhov in Squires Studio Theatre. Performances will be held November 12-15, 17-20 at 7:30 pm and on Sunday, November 17th at 2 pm.
Three Sisters is one of Anton Chekhov’s four masterpieces that re-defined the modern theatre. Set in a remote town where the sisters pine for a lost “Moscow” and are variously entertained and destroyed by the army regiment stationed there, the play whirls around the themes of the evanescence of time, mischances of love, and hilarity of despair.
Our production celebrates the musicality, poetry, and ephemeral beauty of this most sensitive and innovative of modern playwrights and will be a collaboration with music students helping to create the atmospheric Russian passion onstage. The play is directed by David Johnson.
