The Jessie Peterman Library offers a special Civil War presentation on the Battle of Chattanooga on Saturday, November 23, 2013.

Peter Read, a dedicated student of the Civil War, will be back to talk about the Battle of Chattanooga. During the two month period between the battles of Chickamauga and Chattanooga, both sides suffered near starvation as their supply systems broke down. Then an unprecedented use of northern railroads occurred to move troops and supplies.

The Battle of Chattanooga, a three-day event, is unique in the annals of warfare. It was referred to at the time as “The Battle Above the Clouds” due to windy, wet autumn weather, periods of eerie dense fog and a total lunar eclipse. There will be plenty of time to ask questions after the presentation.
