The Radford University College of Visual & Performing Arts presents Ailey II Dance Company as part of their University Performance Series on Monday, November 4th in the Bondurant Auditorium.

Ailey II is universally renowned for merging the spirit and energy of the country’s best young dance talent with the passion and creative vision of today’s most outstanding emerging choreographers. Founded in 1974 as part of the Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation, the company embodies Mr. Ailey’s pioneering mission to establish an extended cultural community that provides dance performances, training, and community programs for all people.

Under the direction of Sylvia Waters, Ailey II flourished into a universally acclaimed dance company. The current artistic director, Troy Powell, is continuing to lead what has become one of the most exciting and fresh dance companies in the United States playing a crucial social role by using the beauty and humanity of the African American heritage and other cultures to unite people of all races, ages and backgrounds.
