VT Expressions and Dr. Nikki Giovanni present Virginia Tech's 1st Annual Poetry Slam entitled "The Bus Poetry Slam" on Tuesday, October 22nd in the Hillcrest Dining Hall.

The poetry slam features poets from three major universities including Virginia Tech, Duke and UNC. The goal of this event is to capture not only the essence of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, through poetry and writing, but to honor the spirited efforts of all the individuals that fought for their rights during this era in American History.

VT Expressions is a social organization dedicated to free expression in art, music, poetry, dance, etc. and more. Expressions serves to promote and balance intellectual and creative development alongside achievement in academics, as well as provide healthy alternative social outlets for creative individuals in the Virginia Tech community.
