Fire Prevention Week, October 6 – 12, 2013, is dedicated to educating the public about the importance of fire safety. “Prevent Kitchen Fires” is this year’s theme. More fires start in the kitchen than any other part of the home. Fire fighters from the Blacksburg Fire Department will bring a fire engine to the Blacksburg Library Tuesday, October 8, so children can look at the equipment while the firefighters speak to them about the importance of kitchen fire safety and how to prevent cooking fires.
