Description:
It may be winter on the calendar, but the stars of fall still hold center stage in the night sky. With the constellations of summer setting in the west and those of winter rising in the east, tonight we'll view three seasons of stars.

* Monthly stargazing programs on the Blue Ridge Parkway (mile marker 139) allow you to meet other people as you peer through large telescopes to distant stars, planets and galaxies. All programs are offered through the City of Roanoke Parks and Recreation and are FREE, but advance registration is required by calling 540-853-2236 at least five business days before each program. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

The programs are led by Frank Baratta, an experienced amateur astronomer and member of the Roanoke Valley Astronomical Society.
