Description:
Virginia Tech Rec Sports hosts the University Bookstore 5K and 1.52-mile Memorial Run in honor of Officer Crouse on Sunday, October 6th beginning on Washington Street outside of Ambler Johnston Hall.

The Homecoming 5k race is held each year as part of the homecoming festivities on and around the Virginia Tech Campus. This year the run has special meaning because Virginia Tech Rec Sports has partnered with the VT Police department to honor Officer Crouse who bravely protected the Virginia Tech community until he was tragically killed in the line of duty in 2011. This year the 1 mile fun run has been replaced by the 1.52-mile Memorial Run to represent Officer Crouse's badge number of 152.

Schedule of Events:
• 9:15 am - 1.52-mile Memorial Run
• 10:00 am - 5K Run
• 11:00 am - Pizza Party and Awards Ceremony at the German Club

Note: Both races start at on Washington Street outside of Ambler Johnston Hall.

Pre-registration is $10 for the 1.52 mile Memorial Run and $20 for the 5k. To register online, visit: http://www.signup.recsports.vt.edu/specialeventsdb/races_5ks.php?regid=75

Online registration will close on Thursday, October 3rd at 5 pm. Walk Up registration will also be available on race day.

Prizes will be awarded. The first 50 runners to complete the 1.52-Mile Memorial Run will receive a ribbon. And, age group winners will receive prizes in the 5K. All registered racers will receive a t-shirt.

Parking will be available at Cassell Coliseum Lot at the corner of Washington Street and Spring Road.

Note: Pets are not allowed on the course.

Proceeds benefit Rec Sports student scholarships & C.O.P.S (Concerns Of Police Survivors for fallen officer's families).
