Description:
It’s almost that time of year, when Sugarplums starting dancing in folks' heads. For the second year, Little Leapers and the Ballet Project at Virginia Tech are preparing for their holiday production of "The Nutcracker" on December 7th and 8th at the Lyric in Blacksburg. But, this year, they will be expanding their auditions and rehearsals to include a Roanoke Casting. Open auditions are this Sunday, September 29th.

Dancers of all ages and levels of experience are encouraged to audition, though three years of ballet training is recommended for all lead roles. Child roles include: Clara, Fritz, Party Guests, Mice, Soldiers, Dolls and dancers from the Land of Sweets. They will also be looking to fill adult roles such as Drosselmeyer (Clara’s magical toymaker Uncle), Party Parents, and Mother Ginger (cast as a male).

To audition, girls should wear a leotard, tights, and ballet slippers with hair pulled back, preferably in a bun. Boys should wear a t-shirt, gym shorts and socks. Adults may wear comfortable work out attire.

All dancers should fill out an online pre-registration form to save time at the door. Pre-registration is available at http://www.thelittleleapers.com

Open Auditions will be held at 1460 South Main Street, Suite 112, in Blacksburg. Little Leaper’s is conveniently located in the First and Main Shopping Center by Bull & Bones.

Children’s Audition:
1:00pm: 2-3yrs
2:00 pm: 4-6yrs
2:30 pm: 7-11yrs
3:00pm: 12-14yrs
3:30 pm: 14+
4:30 pm: Call Backs for Leads
Adult Audition: 5:30pm

Rehearsals for Blacksburg Students will be on Sundays, Roanoke student rehearsals are TBA starting Oct. 6. Performances will be Dec. 7th and 8th at the Lyric Theatre in Blacksburg.
Participation fees are $75 per person, due at auditions.
