Description:
The Jessie Peterman Library presents a historic lecture titled "Battle of Chickamauga and its Floyd Connections" with historian Peter Read on Saturday, September 21st.

Peter Read, an avid Civil War historian, will talk about the pivotal battle of Chickamauga on its sesquicentennial anniversary. Among the topics he’ll cover are the background of the battle, the roll of Native Americans in the region, significant leaders, details of the actual battle which are not well known and the Floyd connection.

The Confederate Army of Tennessee had two infantry regiments from Virginia and they were comprised of recruits from Floyd, Montgomery and surrounding counties. Mr. Read will provide a list of books and leave plenty of time for questions about Chickamauga, Chattanooga and the war.
