Description:
The Radford University Art Museum presents artists James and Umut Thurman’s “Synergies” exhibit at the Art Museum in the Covington Center.
These two artists are partners, both in their marriage as well as in their collaborative studio work. James has a background in sculpture and metalsmithing that has led to the creation of Thurmanite®, a layered paper-resin composite material he uses in much of his work.
Umut has a background in textile design, metalsmithing, and enameling, which all manifest themselves in her studio work and designs. Collaboratively, they create a wide variety of work, from wearables to home furnishings. Their newest body of work unites Thurmanite® with enameled components into new and exciting combinations.
Admission is free and open to the public.
Museum hours at the Covington Center are M-F, 10am-5pm and Sat & Sun from 12-4pm.
