Texas Roadhouse in Christiansburg is graciously hosting the event, which will open with registration at 9am, with the organized ride leaving at 10am. Pre-registration is available at http://ericsutphinmemorialevents.com/poker-run/registration-information/
Each registration fee covers the following for both rider and passenger: poker hand, meal ticket, and door prize tickets.
Poker Run T-shirts and memorial bands are available online and the day of the event. There will also be a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, and other ways for the community to pledge their support.
The 98-mile ride will travel from Christiansburg to Floyd, via Route 8 South, with a break at the Circle K Exxon in downtown. From there the ride will travel Rt. 221 South to Hillsville then onto Rt. 100, breaking at the Hillsville Deli Mart. Rt. 100 to Rt. 11 North is the next leg with a stop in Dublin at the Cougar Express. The final leg follows Rt. 11 North to Rt. 114 East back to Texas Roadhouse in Christiansburg.
Eric’s Story:
Eric Sutphin was dedicated to his family, his community, and his work at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. On August 21, 2006, Eric made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, while trying to keep his community safe.
This is why a dedicated group of volunteers come together each year to honor his memory and raise money to help others in our community. The scholarship fund is helping the children of law enforcement officers pay their college tuition and achieve a brighter future.
