The Jacksonville Center for the Arts offers the two day class Drawing Your Choice: People, Place or Animals with James Noel Smith on Thursday, October 10th and Friday, October 11th meeting from 9am-5pm daily.

Class Description:
Enjoy learning some basic drawing skills or tweaking the ones you already have in a fun, no-stress atmosphere taught by nationally prominent artist and illustrator James Noel Smith. Explore different media and subject matter in your own style and at your own pace, but hopefully broadening your horizons a bit and seeing drawing from a fresh angle. James will do some demonstrations for the group using different tools and materials, and working with you individually as you draw.

We'll sketch from life--some simple still lifes to get warmed up, then on to landscapes and even drawing live models. James will give you valuable tips along the way on things like lighting, anatomy, drawing from photographs, keeping a sketchbook, and combining media, like colored pencils, pen & ink, and watercolor. Workshop participants should bring a variety of drawing materials that they feel most comfortable working with. James will send out email updates and suggestions to participants as the workshop date approaches.
