The Jacksonville Center for the Arts offers the two day class Painting Your Choice: Pets, Wildlife or Portaits with Michele Warner meeting on Thursday, October 10th and Friday, October 11th meeting from 9am-5pm daily.

Class Description:
Relax & have fun while learning to paint! Any subject, any medium... and learn to paint the subject matter you are most interested in. Michele teaches and demonstrates an easy step-by-step process to create a dynamic painting. She works in oils, but has many years of experience working in other mediums, including 20 years in pastels.

"The process is the same, no matter what medium you choose," she states. She’ll show you an easy way to start and precede though a painting that works every time. Michele teaches a color mixing system that is easy to master with any wet medium. A still life will be set up, but the instructor will also bring reference material to share, or work with you before you come, to bring your own strong reference material of the subject matter of your choice.

She will supply written handouts outlining the step-by-step process and color mixing system she teaches, so you take them home and use them to continue improving after the workshop. If needed, the artist encourages you to contact her prior to the workshop, and she will work with you via phone and email, so you arrive at the workshop prepared to get down to some serious painting. Besides talking about general painting, Michele is open to any of your questions about the business of art, working with clients, and any of her experiences she has in her 30 years as a self-employed artist.

She touches on digital photography, Photoshop and other useful tools available to the artist today. She also talks about the artist mindset which is your biggest tool as an artist and often the one you abuse the most. Learn to release any painting fears you might have and open up a new world to creating art. "I feel there has never been a better time to be an artist".
