Description:
The Jacksonville Center for the Arts offers the three day class "Acrylics, Textures, Layers and Metallics" with instructor Jacquiline Sullivan from Friday, September 6 - Sunday, September 8th meeting 9 am - 5 pm daily.

Class Description:
This class is about building a painting layer by layer. Students will be painting with thin glazes of acrylic paint and then begin adding additional layers of textures and paint. Texture will be formed in many ways including use of miscellaneous acrylic media and other household items. Together these ingredients create a richly textured painting. Students will develop an understanding of how to make many different acrylic mediums work better for them in their art work. Metallic foils and paints may be added to highlight textured areas of the painting. Design qualities of an Abstract Painting is an integral part of the class.

Each student will receive a coil bound book with instructions and color photos for the various techniques that are covered in the class. In longer classes students will have the opportunity to create more than one piece, explore techniques more in depth and to develop their paintings while receiving additional one-on-one instructor critique.

Supply List: [students are responsible to being to workshop]
- Stretched canvas – at least 18 x 24 or larger (any brand is o.k.) Students may use more than one
- Acrylic brush – about 1” in width I like the Golden? Taklon brushes
- Water container – 16 to 32 oz plastic
- Styrofoam plates for palettes or heavy duty water proof paper plates
- Watercolor Paper - Strathmore? 300 series tablet 9" x 12" (or several 140 lb CP small pieces)

- Fluid Acrylic Paints
- Metallic Foils
- Various glues, mediums and sizing
- Cheesecloth
- Tissue Paper
- Lace Paper
- Hand out books
