Chafin has guested in these and other roles in opera companies in New York (NYCOpera and Carnegie Hall), Salzburg Summer Festival, Stockholm, Vienna, Frankfurt, Strasbourg, Leipzig, Brüssels, Helsinki, and Berlin (Deutsche Oper and Philarmonie). He has internationally recognized recordings of the operas of Schreker (Flammen and Christophorus), Richard Strauss (Die Liebe der Danae), Bernstein (Candide), Beethoven Symphony No. 9, Stravinsky songs, and the Hindemith Oratorio (Das Unafuhörliche) for compact disc and television productions.
Also at home on the concert stage, Chafin has appeared throughout Europe, the United States, and Israel with leading conductors and musical directors like Riccardo Muti, Marc Albrecht, Donald Runnicles, Andrew Litton, Fréderic Chaslin, Markus Stenz, Michel Plasson, Gary Bertini, Nicolas McGegan, Stefan Anton Reck, Edo de Waart, René Jacobs, Eve Queler, and Alberto Zedda.
