Radford Farmers Market vendors are preparing for a spectacular Market Kick-Off Day on Saturday, May 4th in Norwood Square located on Main Street.

On Market Kick-Off Day there will be music, fun stuff for the kids, and plenty of baked goods, fresh herbs, early veggies, perennials and starter plants to meet your needs.

On hand to perform on Market Kick-Off Day will be local musician Jason Byrd. Coming soon, is a new element of the Radford Farmer’s Market called “Community Kitchen” which will offer tasty breakfast items provided by local groups as a fundraiser. Bring the family for breakfast, shop, and enjoy the cool activities and kids’ crafts planned.

All are invited to come down to the market and be treated to another year of locally grown produce, products and crafts. New farmers market vendors and additional craft vendors will be introduced to this community venue.

Through a grant from the Department of Social Services, Radford Farmers Market vendors will now be able to accept the EBT/SNAP cards for allowable items; this will enable wider citizen access to locally grown fruits, vegetables, meats, etc. Also new this year is the processing of credit and debit card payments to the vendors; both these functions will be handled at the Main Street Radford tent.

Stop down at the Market on Saturday May 4th to see familiar and new faces along with the upcoming seasonal offerings. The 2013 market season will run from May 4 to October 19 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm every Saturday, rain or shine.
