On Thursday, March 28th, Community Voices will present Kathie deNobriga and Melanie Hammet, mayor and mayor pro tem of Pine Lake, Georgia. The Community Voices talk will be from 7-8 p.m. in Historic Lyric Theatre in downtown Blacksburg, Virginia. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Kathie deNobriga and Melanie Hammet will sing, shout, laugh and talk about how artists are suited to lead and govern. They will consider the use of art as a tool for government and leadership and the curious intersections between voters, taxes, leaf vacuums, garbage collection, pancake breakfasts, and planning & zoning.

The Community Voices speakers are engaged in fostering work that strengthens community. Their leadership includes the capacity to speak cogently and concisely about their experiences, to tell stories that are revealing of their work, and to present ideas for change, ideas that matter.
