Description:
The Sixth Annual Empty Bowls Floyd will be held on St. Patrick's Day, Sunday, March 17th at Floyd County High School.

Everyone in the community is invited to the fundraiser for New River Community Action's Backpack Program that sends meals home with 175 kids each weekend. Wear your green and celebrate with a bowl of hot soup and live music!

Ticket includes bowl of soup, bowl to take home made by a Floyd County or Blue Ridge Guild Potter, bread, desserts and beverage.

Andrea Marshall and Bernie Coveney will provide musical entertainment, and the Back Porch Cloggers will perform.

Tickets are on sale now at the NRCA Emergency Assistance Office located in the main building of the Jacksonville Center for the Arts. Tickets are also available at the Jacksonville front office, which is open six days a week through March (closed on Sundays until April). Additionally, tickets will be available at the Ministerial Association churches.

Ticket prices will be $12.00 for adults in advance and $15.00 at the door, $5 for children age 6-12; age 5 and under are free.

For five years, the New River Community Action (NRCA) Floyd County Back Pack Program (FCBPP) has been helping children get the nutritious and easy-to-prepare food they need over the course of the weekend. The program has served 175 children who are enrolled in the free or reduced-cost USDA school lunch program at the five county schools since the beginning of the 2012-13 school-year.
