Description:
The Radford Visitor’s Center will be celebrating the 6th Annual Radford Roosting Festival at Bisset Park on Saturday, March 23rd from 12-3 pm. This year's festival is titled "A Celebration of Flight".

This year’s festival will include live birds, educational birding stations and children’s activities. In keeping with the theme of ‘celebration of flight’, there will be a number of kite flying activities planned that include kite flying demonstrations and kite making for the kids. A parade of kites will take place and there will be a kite contest. Details about the contest will be announced at the festival.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own kites or you can make a kite at the craft station.

Activities include:
- Meet live birds
- Guided bird walks at 1 pm & 2 pm
- Crafts
- Kite contests with prizes
- Make a kite station
- Vendors

There are two scheduled not-to-be-missed bird walks with Clyde Kessler, local bird expert with Radbird, an outfitter and touring company that specializes in interacting with local birds. The walks set off at 1 pm and 2 pm from Shelter 1 in Bisset Park.

Lee Chichester, a member and officer of the Virginia Falconers’ Association will present ‘Flight of the Raptors’ at 12:30 pm. This presentation will showcase some of the differences in flight between hawks and falcons. Informational tables will educate attendees about local wildlife, including the Radford University student chapter of The Wildlife Society. The Radford Birding Guide also will be available.
