Eric and Elliot by Dwayne Hartford, produced by Roanoke Children’s Theatre is being presented at Radford High School, FREE TO THE PUBLIC on Monday, March 4th, 2013, at 7 pm.
Meaningful and poignant with hints of humor, this play addresses the often sidestepped topic of teen depression and suicide. The play is suitable for grades 6th and up. “Eric and Elliot” by Dwayne Hartford brings awareness and insight to struggling teens, their peers, and their families. Anyone who works with teenagers; teachers, youth leaders, mentors, etc. . . will benefit from this play.
A talk-back with area mental health providers follows the hour long performance.
Local citizens have donated money to bring this event here. Local actors are in the play. Taylor Dawson, a junior at Blacksburg High School plays the character of Daisy, a young girl who doesn’t want to face reality or worry, and Dante Piro, a junior at Radford High School who plays the role of Elliot, a sensitive and caring 15 year old who is concerned about his little brother. The rest of the cast is rounded out by another young actor and professional actors from Roanoke. It is directed by Pat Wilhelms, artistic director of Roanoke Children’s Theatre.
NOTE: This production was originally set to be performed in January 2013, but due to inclement weather had to be postponed multiple times.
