Virginia Tech presents a free public lecture by Dr. Katherine Charron entitled "Septima Clark, Citizenship Education, and Women in the Civil Rights Movement" on Thursday, February 21st in the Graduate Life Center, Room G.
Dr. Katherine M. Charron will explore the central role that black teachers played in the modern Civil Rights Movement. A dynamic speaker, Dr. Charron is the author of "Freedom's Teacher: The Life of Septima Clark" (2009) and is currently an Associate Professor of History at the North Carolina State University, where she teaches, U.S., southern, African American, and women's history.
