Description:
The Virginia Tech Appalachian Studies program presents "Poetry Sampler: Voices of the Region" on Saturday, February 23rd at Solitude.

The event is a celebration of homegrown poetry written by members of the Appalachian Author’s Guild.

Poet Line-Up:
- Philip Church – McCoy, VA – author, poet and songwriter
- Janice Hornburg – East TN – her work will be published in The Anthology of Appalachian Writers, Vol. 5.
- T. Byron Kelly and Spectral Arts Band – Christiansburg, VA - performs spontaneous lyric poetry layered with guitar and percussion.
- Rose Klix – Johnson City, TN – author of Pastiche of Poetry and founder of The Poetry Society of TN – Northeast Chapter.
- Sylvia Nickels – East TN – Has written a memoir about her life as a sharecropper’s daughter. Besides poetry, she also writes short stories and mystery novels.

The event is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.

Solitude is located at 705 West Campus Drive on the campus of Virginia Tech near the Duck Pond.
