Join the Christiansburg Library and historian Raymond Bishop for the Sharing America series and learn about African Americans in Christiansburg on Saturday, February 9th with his program, "When I Was a Slip of a Lad".

Mr. Bishop will share his passion for researching the history of African American families who have lived in and around the Town of Christiansburg from the nineteenth century to contemporary times. His presentation will refer to records and documents from the Montgomery County Courthouse and other community archives and include memories of family members who still reside in the community.

Mr. Bishop and the Christiansburg Library are working together to document the stories of African Americans in the area and invite community members to join in this effort.

Mr. Bishop is a 1965 graduate of the Christiansburg Institute. A retired Naval Officer with 40 years naval service, he has visited more than 60 countries and 100 ports.
