Description:
Join the Blacksburg Southern Mountain Square Dance at the YMCA at Virginia Tech on Saturday, February 2nd. Ginger Wagner is scheduled to be the caller and the band is The Reed Island Rounders.

The Reed Island Rounders features ace fiddler, Betty Vornbrock, Billy Cornette on guitar and Diane Jones on the banjo. The Rounders play a variety of music- from foot-stomping dance tunes to romantic waltzes, and beyond to the dark and lonesome mountain aires. Since 1993, they've performed at the Gainsborough, England Friends of Appalachian Old Time Music and Dance festival, at concerts and pubs across Ireland, and at the 2004 and 2005 Chicago Folk Festivals.

Blacksburg Southern Mountain Square Dance, sponsored since 1981 by the Old-time Music and Dance Group of Blacksburg, presenting the finest square dance callers and old-time bands to bring you the oldest and funnest dance in Virginia!

Partners and square dance experience are not necessary- the caller teaches every dance! Please wear shoes that won't mar the floor.

Refreshments are available and this is a student, family-friendly and smoke free event. Children under 12 are free.
