The Blacksburg Newcomers Club will hold their January meeting on the evening of Tuesday, January 8th at the Briarwood Clubhouse in Hethwood starting at 7 pm. The January meeting will feature an evening of Zumba and more.

Guests are welcome to attend our monthly meetings to learn more about the club for free.

Just in time to keep a few of the classic New Year’s resolutions the Newcomers Club has a program to help with that. We will meet for an evening of Zumba, being led by certified Zumba instructor Carolina Drevyanko. This is an opportunity to exercise, learn a new skill, meet new people and have fun! All at one time.

We will start with showing up in work out friendly clothes, (leave anything tight,uncomfortable or hard to wash at home!) and try some move under Carolinas kind supervision. If you just want to watch that is fine as well. You still fulfill some resolutions by doing that. Afterwards there will be time for some healthy snacks, socializing and feeling good about having started the year on the right foot.

The Blacksburg Newcomers meet the 2nd Tuesday of each month for a general meeting which includes a social time and a fun, informative program from 9-11:30 am usually at Luther Memorial Church on the corner of Tom's Creek and Prices Fork Roads in Blacksburg.

Residents may join at any time after moving to the area for a fee of $20/year and childcare is provided free of charge. As a member you will receive a monthly newsletter that includes general meeting and interest group information.

Since the 1960s, people who have made Blacksburg and the New River Valley their home have found the transition made easier by joining the Blacksburg Newcomers’ Club. Members provide a warm welcome to the New River Valley with monthly programs, special events, projects to help local charities, and interest groups to share hobbies.

The Briarwood Clubhouse is located at 2210 Tall Oaks Drive in Blacksburg.
