Description:
Gillie's Late Night welcomes The Bastards of Fate with Deral Fenderson on Friday, January 18th.
The Bastards of Fate are an "avant-garde" party rock band. They have played shows with artists like Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and Captured! By Robots, have toured several times with Joe Jack Talcum (of The Dead Milkmen) and have played at Athens PopFest. Their debut album was recorded by John Thompson (Eternal Summers, The Young Sinclairs) and is being mixed by Bill Moriarty (Man Man, Dr. Dog). They live in Roanoke, VA.

http://www.thebastardsoffate.comDeral Fenderson, hailing from the foothills of Giles County, is less a musician and more a gravedigger, tilling a labyrinthine grave of morose and often carnal subject matter. His canon speaks to his father's untimely death in a demolition derby, his whore of a junkie mother, and his take on the fate of the "Milk Carton Boy". Deral weaves these macabre tales of love lost and pain against the backdrop of lush soundscapes generally reserved for Japanese noise artists. The insidious chug of electric guitar and Mr Fenderson's awkward delivery firmly sets his place as the troubadour of David Lynch's Waffle House.
