Join the Blacksburg library for a special movie and book discussion on "The Help".
Kathryn Stockett’s debut novel The Help was a summer sleeper hit upon its publication in 2009. Set in Mississippi in the 1960s, the story’s plot revolves around the perspectives of the black maids who care for the households and children of affluent white families.
The book-inspired movie of the same title, starring Emma Stone and Viola Davis, grossed $26,044,590 on opening weekend alone!
Watch the movie The Help on the big screen from 1:00 -3:30 p.m.
Following the movie, the group will discuss both the book and the movie over coffee and a small slice of chocolate pie.
