In addition to Mr. Cox, representatives from the Floyd County Historical Society, the Floyd County Historical Preservation Trust and the Old Church Gallery will also make brief remarks about preserving and displaying Floyd’s past.
The late Frank Webb of Roanoke began documenting Floyd County mills in the 1980’s and Cox joined the research in 1992. The book was completed in 2010, 14 years after Webb’s death. Cox’s talk will include discussion of the locating and documenting of mills, collecting oral histories, preparing an historical overview and compiling it all into the book.
