Description:
A community and university partnership, "Whether System" blends storytelling, music, theatre, and a culminating "town hall event" --original in its design-- to build awareness and invite healthy, productive public dialogue around community issues. What's your vision for the future of the NRV? Come talk with us in an environment of performance, interaction, and collaboration.
Since January 2011, the Building Home team of actors and musicians (from Virginia Tech's Performing Arts Department) has been conducting interactive theatre and music events with communities throughout the New River Valley.
These gatherings use art as a medium for community visioning and dialogue on life in the NRV, as it is now and how they imagine it could be in the future. The stories and perspectives collected through Building Home are directly contributing to the New River ValleyLivability Initiative.
As part of an independent graduate student project, members of the Building Home team have also created "Whether System: A Town Hall Event" drawing upon stories and perspectives collected from Building Home's 20+ community gatherings in the city of Radford and the counties of Giles, Pulaski, Montgomery, and Floyd.
The production is part of the Town Hall Nation project, see
