Description:
You are invited to watch the 2012 Reenactment of the Battle of Cloyd's Mountain, a famous Civil War battle that took place in Pulaski County on Saturday, April 28th and Sunday, April 29th.
Reenactors will recreate the battle scene as it happened according to reports 148 years ago. The original battle occurred on May 9, 1864.
Sunday Schedule:
10:15 a.m. - Camp open to public-
Bus service begins- NRV Fairgrounds
10:00 a.m. - Infantry Demonstration at battlefield
11:00 a.m. - Artillery Demonstration at battlefield
1:00 p.m. - Reenactment-Battle of Cloyd’s Mountain
3:00 p.m. - Camp closed to public. Bus service ends
Parking for this year’s reenactment is at the New River Valley Fairgrounds with shuttle service starting at 10:00 am each day; buses will run on every quarter hour. Handicap parking will be at
the fairgrounds, a handicap vehicle will also be available for shuttle service.
Admission will be $5 per day for adults and $1 per day for children 12 and under. Admission to this event will be collected at the NRV Fairgrounds.
Be sure to bring your portable chairs and blankets for a fun and educational event for the whole family!
Handicap facilities will be provided at Rockwood Manor.
