Description:
In today’s workplace, phone calls, e-mails and projects come at employees at breakneck speed, making it difficult to decide “what to tackle when” in order to achieve peak productivity. For non-profit organizations, the added pressure of fund raising, event planning and more can give time management even greater importance.

To help non-profit organizations improve efficiency, New River Community College is hosting a workshop “Time Management for Non-Profits” on Friday, March 30, from 10 a.m. to noon at the college’s New River Valley Mall site in Christiansburg.

Workshop topics will include how best to assign priorities to daily workplace activities, overcome procrastination, use e-mail efficiently, handle crises effectively and how to organize one’s workspace and workflow.

The instructor for the workshop will be Laurel Schirr, NRCC corporate trainer. Her educational background includes a master’s degree in management from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

The fee for the workshop will be $18. However, thanks to special funding obtained by the college for this purpose, fees will be waived for the first 10 businesses to enroll employees (up to four employees per business).

To register, contact New River Community College’s Office of Workforce Development at 540-674-3617. The registration deadline is Wednesday, March 28.
