The 53rd annual Virginia Tech International Street Fair comes to College Avenue from 11 am to 4 pm on Saturday, March 31. “Hokies Without Borders,” is the theme for this year’s street fair, which kicks off International Week at the end of March. Admission to the festival is free and open to the public.
The International Street Fair is a popular event held every spring, as downtown Blacksburg transforms into a multicultural marketplace with decorated booths, vendors selling authentic items, cultural dishes, and more.
The fair also features live music and student performances of traditional cultural dances. The International Street Fair brings thousands of people from surrounding communities to join Virginia Tech in enjoying the diversity of the fair.
International Week is organized by the Council of International Student Organizations (CISO) and is highlighted by the International Street Fair held in downtown Blacksburg.
This event is a great opportunity for adults and children of all ages to come and learn about different countries. Exotic dishes and even some tongue twisting names are traded in a festive mood. The participating international organizations bring their best to your taste buds, while the performers make you move with their native folkloric rhythms. At decorated booths, vendors and Virginia Tech’s own international student organizations sell items such as authentic cultural dishes and traditional arts and crafts from representing all avenues of the world.
