Description:
The Roanoke - Blacksburg Technology Council (RBTC) hosts the February Tech and Toast entitled "Strategies for Maximizing the Value of Your Business". The Tech and Toast will be presented by Brian Keane, Founder and Managing Director of Seabrook Partners LLC. The attendance cost also includes lunch.
In today’s challenging economic environment, it behooves private business owners to focus on every opportunity to improve business value. These actions can prove beneficial whether the company’s plan of action is to grow organically or to engage in a strategic transaction: raising outside capital, acquiring a business, or selling the company. The combined effects of the tech bubble crash in 2000-2001 and the credit market crash of 2007-2008 have been to dramatically increase the amount and depth of due diligence conducted by outside sources of capital (debt and equity) and prospective acquirers, particularly for small and middle market private companies.
In November 2009, Roanoke-based ADMMicro was acquired by GridPoint, Inc. Brian Keane helped represent the interests of ADMMicro in those negotiations. Brian is a Harvard MBA and the founder of Seabrook Partners LLC, a boutique investment bank focused on middle-market businesses.
Discussion Points and Take-Aways:
1) Review the different types of strategic transactions involving private companies: sale, recapitalization, ESOP, and growth capital.
2) Discuss case studies of actual transactions.
3) Learn common mistakes made that detract from your business’s value.
