Come learn about the Appalachian region and its local facets with a day filled with music, art, history and lectures!
Local facets of the Appalachian region, including its music, arts, history and natural resources, will be in the spotlight Friday at Radford University's annual Appalachian Awareness Day.
Set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the auditorium of the Hurlburt Student Center, the free public event will be divided into 50-minute sessions to accommodate classes that want to participate.
Performances and informative discussions include the following:
10–10:50 a.m. Information session: The Vulture Festival
11–11:50 a.m. Music by student folk rock band The Caravats (

1–1:45 p.m. Information session: The Appalachian Trail
2–2:50 p.m. Information session: The Floyd Country Store
