Description:
The Roanoke - Blacksburg Technology Council (RBTC) hosts the January Tech and Toast entitled "Help Wanted: Searching for a Unicorn". The Tech and Toast will be presented by Richard Hammer. The attendance cost also includes lunch.

Richard Hammer has 25 years of experience building technology-based businesses, most recently as the Director of Web App Development with Modea, and has worked with start-ups and Fortune 1000 firms alike.

A lot of businesses today, and the leaders within them, are setting themselves up for failure. The business is at a critical juncture and in order to take the next step, a key strategic hire needs to be made. The problem is, without knowing it, you may be looking for a unicorn!

Unicorns do exist. You may have several already working for you, but they are rare…and they are expensive. If you’re looking for a unicorn, you need to know the lay of the land, what it will cost you, and your likelihood of success. Once you secure a unicorn, you also need to know the proper care and maintenance to be sure the unicorn stays healthy and engaged. Or maybe you can define the scenario differently and improve your ability to be successful!
